At first light I thought I would visit Grove, (it has been a while), in search of a Jack Snipe. The only birds from the ramp were two Black Headed Gulls and I was quickly on to Feast Hide. To contain my excitement I counted the 38 Mallard twice and then by sex, 20 male and 18 female. To distract me were five Gadwall and seven Tufted Duck with three Coot. In fairness, two Marsh Harriers passed by but after an hour I decided to wade down to Harrisons where I can report there were no birds at all!
The highlight was exchanging Christmas greetings with Steve Ashton as I left.
